چکیده

Edi tor ’s Note : NEHA strives to provide up-to-date and relevant information on environmental health and to build partnerships in the profession. In pursuit of these goals, we feature a column from the Environmental Health Services Branch (EHSB) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in every issue of the Journal. In this column, EHSB and guest authors from across CDC will highlight a variety of concerns, opportunities, challenges, and successes that we all share in environmental public health. EHSB’s objective is to strengthen the role of state, local, and national environmental health programs and professionals to anticipate, identify, and respond to adverse environmental exposures and the consequences of these exposures for human health. The services being developed through EHSB include access to topical, relevant, and scientific information; consultation; and assistance to environmental health specialists, sanitarians, and environmental health professionals and practitioners. The conclusions in this article are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the views of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Michele Hlavsa is chief of CDC’s Healthy Swimming Program. Michael Beach is CDC’s associate director for Healthy Water.

Effect of High-intensity Intermittent Swimming Training on peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors-αand Liver Enzymes in Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis Male Rats

Introduction: Accumulation of fat in the liver tissue is known as the most important cause of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, which is associated with a decrease in the protein of hepatic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR-α). This study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIST) on PPAR-α and liver enzymes in high-fat diet-induced no...

The Effect of 8-Weeks of Low-Intensity Swimming Training on Promyelocytic Leukemia Zinc Finger Protein and Spermatid Transition Nuclear Protein Gene Expression in Azoospermic Rats Model

Aims: One of the causes of infertility in men is the azoospermia disease, which is attributed to the lack of sperm in each sperm. The primary function of spermatogenesis is the maintenance, proliferation, and differentiation of spermatogonial cells. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the changes in Promyelocytic Leukemia Zinc Finger (PLZF) and spermatid Transition Nuclear Protein (TNP...

The Effect of one Course of Swimming Exercise before Induction of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on Nerve Growth Factor Levels in Rat’s Brain

Background and Aim: Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease with unknown etiology in the nervous system. However, exercise routinely for these patients is beneficial, but the effect of pretreatment swimming exercise in this disease has not been fixed. Therefore, the aim of these study was to investigate pretreatment effect of swimming exercise on NGF levels in female Lewis rats wit...

The effect of swimming training, cell and laser on the expression of genes involved in autophagy (LC3 and Beclin-1) in azoospermia mice

Background and Aim: Infertility in men is 10-20% of cases due to azoospermia. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of swimming training, cell and laser on the expression of genes involved in autophagy (LC3 and Beclin-1) in azoospermia mice. Methods: 30 rats 6 to 8 weeks of age were randomly selected from Tehran Laboratory Animal Research and Propagation Center, and then injected ...
